Digital Photography
“A new technology is rarely superior to an old one in every feature”
Digital photography has changed the world of photography. You no longer need to develop photos in a dark room, it is more cost effective but the photo quality is not the same and you also lose the possibility of developing techniques that can be done with film cameras. Digital zoom is also a poorer quality of zoom. Saying this you can perform many other features with a digital camera.
Some of the ways that digital images can be stored transferred and manipulated using other communications technology include:
Stored on memory stick
Uploaded to computer/ Laptop
Then transferred onto -CD
-DVD
-MP3 etc
Uploaded further onto web pages, blogs etc

Ethical issues can arise with the use of digital photography. One example of this is with social networking sites such as Bebo and Facebook. Anyone can upload photos of you onto the net. Informed consent is not required and this can create ethical issues.
On my occupational therapy placement which was in a paediatric setting digital photography was used as an educational tool. They would take photos of certain events that took place and then would have to re create the sequence with the photographs.

Optical zoom uses the optics (lens) of the camera to bring the subject closer. Digital zoom is an invention of digital video cameras. Digital zoom is not really zoom, in the strictest definition of the term. What digital zoom does is enlarge a portion of the image, thus 'simulating' optical zoom.

A megapixel (MP) is 1 million pixels, and is a term used not only for the number of pixels in an image, but also to express the number of image sensor elements of digital cameras or the number of display elements of digital displays.

I have grown up surrounded by technology and use it in my everyday life. I feel competent using most forms of technology, even if it can be frustrating when it breaks down or wont perform task it is meant to. Forms of technology I use everday include my laptop, cellphone, home phone, tv, mp3 and more. IT helps me keep on touch with friends, keep informed about the world around me and provides a form of entertainment.
On my recent fieldwork placement in was in a paediatric setting with high school level students. I used many forms of IT while there including computer/email, digital camera and phones. the computer was used to research, send/recieve emails, type up reports and applications, and for students education. The digital camera was used for educational purposes, as well as taking photos around school for funding for modifications. And phones were used as a secrurity measure when taking children out of school, and keeping in touch with other facilities.
'Computer Ethics is a branch of practical philosophy which deals with how computing professionals should make decisions regarding professional and social conduct. The term "computer ethics" was first coined by Walter Maner in the mid-1970s, but only since the 1990s has it started being integrated into professional development programs in academic settings. The conceptual foundations of computer ethics are investigated by information ethics, a branch of philosophical ethics established by Luciano Floridi. Computer ethics is a very important topic in computer applications.'
